Site of the Week

The first ever "Site of the Week" isn't technically a site. It's really just an awesome user on Youtube. This user goes by the name of StarKidPotter. I have been OBSESSED with this user for a few weeks now. "Why?" you ask? Watch...



And that's only the first part of the first act!! It has two acts, and they are both broken down to parts. The first act has 14 parts, and the second has 9. As you can hopefully see, while this play was done by fans for fans, it really is no joke. They amount of sheer wit that went into the script is TOTALLY AWESOME. Darren Criss, who wrote the songs, is a genius. I'm anticipating the soundtrack because I cannot get these songs out of my head!

I found this simply by roaming the Youtube-sphere. I started with communitychannel, which turned into vlogbrothers, which consists of John Green (the author of "An Abundance of Katherines) and his brother, and took me to one of their blogs which had a post about the formerly titled "Harry Potter The Musical." It's amazing what you can find when your just sitting on your ass!

The videos had been down for about a week or two due to copyright infringement (Damn Warner Brothers...), but they are up and running AGAIN!! Thank Wizard god!!

So, please, please, PLEASE watch "A Very Potter Musical" on http://www.youtube.com/StarKidPotter You will laugh the ENTIRE TIME, I promise. And for me, it's helped me not freak out about the upcoming release of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" so much.

Movie of the Month:

So, the first ever Movie of the Month is "Away We Go" with Maya Rudolf, John Krasinski,a handful of amazingly talented and hilarious actors, and directed by Sam Mendes, who has also directed "Revolutionary Road" and "American Beauty."

This movie is crawling with famous actors, from the wonderful Allison Janney as Verona's (Maya Rudolf) eccentric boss from Chicago, Lily, and Jim Gaffigan as her husband, to Catherine O'Hara and Jeff Daniels as Burt's (John Krasinski) "loving?" parents. The actress who really stands out in my mind is Maggie Gyllenhaal as LN. Her performance is incredible. She makes me honestly believe that she is an insane hippie. Her family sleeps in one bed, hates strollers, and are pretty much giant assholes. She is one of those disgusting characters who you can't stand from the moment you see them on screen.

While the humor in this film is evident, it doesn't take over the theme of the movie, which to me, is that, really, home is what you make it. And that you can't worry about what kind of parent you are going to be. You jut have to hope you're a good one.

All in all, this was an adorabley sweet and funny movie. I would highy recommend you see it in theaters. That's all!! Oh, and be wary about te very first scene. :0

Milk/ 7Pounds

Today was a bit of a lazy day. So, what do I do on lazy days? I watch movies.

First, I watched Milk, which, if you didn't already know, is about Harvey Milk who was a gay rights activist and was the first openly gay man to be elected to a city office in California. While the love scenes kind of gave me the willies, it was a beautiful movie. Sean Penn is glorious--his Oscar win was a given. Milk was such an amazing film. It makes you realize that you should never take your rights for granted because someone can come in and take them away simply because they don't agree. It disgusted me to see some people lobby to take away simple rights from gay people. They wanted to fire gay teachers because "the gays can't reproduce so they would have to recruit our children." And they wanted to fire those that were friends to those who were openly gay. What makes me so sad is that Harvey was killed after only a year in office. He did so much in that one year. Imagine what he could have done if he and the mayor had not be assassinated.

So, after that happy movie, I watched 7 Pounds. You might be thinking "Hey! You just ruined Milk for me!" Don't worry, I didn't. You find out that stuff in the beginning. I don't really know if I can not reveal anything in 7 Pounds, but I'll try not to. First off, it's a moving film. It makes you really think about whether or not your life is really being lived. And whether you are doing all you can to make an impact on those around you. While Ben Thomas took it to the extreme, I think we can all learn something from 7 Pounds. I don't know what that something for you is because it's probably different for everyone. But I know what I learned. And I can't tell you. That would ruin the movie. Let's just say I cried my eyes out and started thinking about what I have done to make a dfference--big or small.

Okay, you guys (rather the one of you that actually reads this thing) MUST watch these movies. They both have two completely different messages. Both you need to be a better person, I think. But both are about love.
